
Lestat, a Broadway musical inspired by Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles. This was the first theatrical score from the legendary songwriting team of Elton John and Bernie Taupin. Book by Linda Woolverton, and was directed by Robert Jess Roth with musical staging by Matt West. The title role of Lestat was played by Hugh Panaro. The show was directed by Robert Jess Roth, who was a Tony Award nominee for his Broadway directorial debut for Beauty and the Beast, and also stared Carolee Carmello as Gabrielle, Drew Sarich as Armand, Jim Stanek as Louis, Roderick Hill as Nicolas, Michael Genet as Marius and Allison Fischer as Claudia in a cast of 21. Scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Jonathan Deans, visual concept design by Dave McKean, and hair design by Tom Watson. Pre-BroadwayThe pre-Broadway debut of the musical was held in San Francisco where it ran from December 17, 2005 thru January 29, 2006 at the Curran Theatre. This version also featured Jack Noseworthy in the role of Armand; he was let go just prior to the Broadway opening when it was decided to take his character in a different direction.
