The film (more than forty years after the original movie was released) was adapted to the stage as a Broadway musical with several Porter songs from other sources added to the movie score. The Broadway production opened April 27, 1998, and played 144 performances.
A revival opened in London in the Shaftesbury Theatre on 10 October 2005 and closed on 21 January 2006, after having toured the UK for over a year prior.
A long playing record of the soundtrack songs was released the same year; see High Society (1956 album).
Did the stage adaptation not run for a couple of years in the West End of London in the 1980s with Stephen Rea and one of the Richardson/Redgrave women?
