Adelson e Salvini (Adelson and Salvini) is a three act opera buffa composed by Vincenzo Bellini and first performed at the Teatro del Conservatorio di S. Sebastiano in Naples on February 12, 1825. The libretto was by Andrea Leone Tottola. The opera was written as Bellini's final project at the Naples Conservatory and opened at an obscure, minor theatre in Naples, befitting its then unknown 23 year old author. Based on the 1772 novel Épreuves du Sentiment by François-Thomas de Baculard d’Arnaud, the opera draws on a previously performed play by Prospère Delamare. |
